dining room table pads bed bath and beyond

hi everyone i'm neil balthaser and welcometo ultramobility mini-review where i give you just the essentials in a 5 minute, unsponsoredrv review. did you know there are only 2 class b motorhomesfor sale here in north america with a dry bath? a dry bath meaning the shower has a dedicatedstall separate from the rest of the bathroom. one is the winnebago era 70m the other isthe arriva v24 by coach house and that's the one we're taking a look at today. coach house, not to be confused with coachmenor american coach isn't a new comer to the rv scene.

as a family owned and operated business they'vebeen designing, engineering and manufacturing motorhomes from their venice florida headquarterssince 1985. coach house motorhomes are sold factory directwhich means that you're not going to find them on dealer lots. the model we're reviewing today is built onthe mercedes sprinter chassis and yes coach house is a certified mercedes master upfitter. the arriva is built on the extended mercedessprinter 3500 chassis. it's powered by a 3.0l v6 diesel engine whichis capable of delivering 188hp and 325 lbs.-ft. of torque.

the extended sprinter chassis means this coachmeasures a healthy 24' 2" in length. that's long for sure but that's the pricewe're going to have to pay to have a dry bath in a class b. on the plus side i appreciate this coach'sclean look. the arriva comes with something else thatfew other class b coaches have and that's a bit of exterior storage. this small storage bin at the rear of thedriver's side is deep enough to hold things like your electrical cable and hoses or maybea couple folding chairs. as well, this coach feature a standard second24" lcd tv for outside viewing.

that's a cool feature but using your slidingdoor while it's raining will get it wet. stepping into the van you can see that youhave 4 zones: there's a front lounge that utilizes the cab seats, then you have yourgalley, then your bedroom and in the back is your dry bath. let's take a quick look at this front lounge/dinette. this area is pretty clever: when you wantto convert it into a workstation or dining table you just lower down the table top andflip out the extension. it's a good size but its design is not idealfor the person sitting in the passenger seat. keep in mind that this is your one and onlytable for the coach.

moving on back we come to the galley. there's a marine style sink, a two burnerpropane stove and a counter extension gives you needed additional prep space. across the aisle is a large 6 cu.ft. 3-wayrefrigerator (not a compressor-driven refrigerator) and a convection microwave. you've also got a large pull-out pantry. i appreciate that the galley provides a separationbetween the bedroom and the front lounge. speaking of bedrooms, this is a very practicaland desirable twin bed layout. each bed measures 28"x74" or roughly 6'2"in length.

each bed is on a jack knife mechanism thatallows it to be easily pulled out to create one large 68"x76" bed. no slats or boards needed. plenty of windows let lots of light in andunlike many coaches, these windows feature both day and night time mcd shades. this coach is a true couple's coach - itsspace is optimized for two people and that means this area functions strictly as a bedroom:there are no seatbelts and there is no table top that can be placed back here. rounding out bedroom conveniences there'sa second 24" lcd tv back here and plenty of

overhead storage. there is a bit of under-bed storage as wellbut most of your components including your fresh water tank are located under the beds. let's head in to the bathroom and see if thiscoach delivers. it's a large, beautiful dry bath. unlike most class b bathrooms which cram theshower, toilet and sink into one shared area, the arriva gives us a separate shower stall. across the aisle is your toilet and sink andthere is plenty of storage under the sink, above the toilet and floor to ceiling cabinetsto the left of the shower.

one nice thing about having a rear bathroomis that you can access it from the rear doors. so if you're returning from the beach youcan directly enter the bathroom from the back door and wash up without tracking sand throughthe rest of the coach. also, because the aisle-way is open you getsome pass thru storage although it's not wide enough for 2 bikes or even a kayak. the tank sizes on this coach are just okay:31 gal fresh, 20 gal grey and 13 gal black. those sizes mean this coach isn't suitablefor extended boondocking. candidly you're going to either use campgroundhookups or dump your tanks every 3 days if you're hoping to use that dry bath for takingnormal showers.

on the plus side, this coach is 4 season. all its water lines are routed internallyas is its fresh water tank. tank warming pads are also optional and itfeatures "heavy insulation". as long as you keep the coach heated you shouldnot need to winterize it. this coach also features a ducted air conditioningsystem. the arriva comes with a 3 year coach warrantyand you would need to work with them to locate a dealer to perform warranty work. so if you're interested in the arriva whatis it going to set you back and how do you get one?

these are definitely premium priced coaches. current prices for new units are hard to findbut used prices can range anywhere from $125k to $140k. since they're not found on dealer's lots you'llneed to visit their website and see if they have any new or used coaches for sale. or, you can fly out to tour their factoryand if you order they will reimburse you up to $800 for travel expenses should you purchase. wait times are around 3 months. that wraps up this week's mini-review.
