dining room molding

hi this is coving tips from plaster ceiling roses i'm now going to show you how to cut an internal mitre on a patterned cornice. of which we call balancing the mitre. here we have a patterned cornice with an internal mitre cut on it. to keep the pattern flowing through the mitre we need to find a point of reference on the cornice,

which is easy to identify on your next piece. so i'm going to go for the centre of a rose. there. from that point... we measure... back to the mitre. in this case, it's giving 140mm. on your next piece that you're going to cut, again, we find the reference point

which would be the centre of a rose. we measure a 140mms... back... on the bottom edge. that is the start of our cut. so, from that point we square up. we'll stick our projection measurement, taking it off. we cut the mitre. so then when we put the two internals together...

we will end up with the flower being consistent through the mitre.
