dining room lighting fixtures ideas

they don't call it a light bulb momentfor no good reason. with great ideas, come great lights. today we're gonna supersizethis baby and put it on the wall balls to the walls so we bought this industrial lamp offcarousel a couple months back and absolutely loved it since we're alreadyrenovating the office we wanted to have a massive version of this as thebackdrop of one of our sets after surfing online for hours and not findingone with the right size or design for this surface we decided to get our handsdirty and make one ourselves let's get

crackin let's get crackin quezada buddhadee doo dee da dee first and foremost it is always good to sketch out your designjust to get a general idea of what it will look like you should then break itdown to figure out the lengths of the individual types as well as the types offittings required next pick up the parts according to your schematics for ourdesign we went for half-inch gi pipes and the blocks at our hardware storeeven helped us cut and thread the pipes according to our specifications oh yeahmake sure that you grab fittings of the right size according to your pipes afterthat let the cleaning commence chain sounds like hunger games start off byrubbing your pipes with some paint

thinner to get rid of any excessthreading oil or grease alain was very happy to do all the dirty work since iwas working the camera you should also soak your fittingsbefore giving them a good scrub with a wire brush this will remove any rustthat may have formed why the fittings were sitting on the shelves now let'sput them all together since the cutting and threading process isn't actually ahundred percent accurate make sure that you take that into consideration andleave some tolerances in your measurements it is a good idea to have acan of wd-40 handy just to help work some of the joints that just won't birchour light fixture was quite large so it

took us about three hours to fullyassemble the whole thing your mileage may vary you don't need to take it allapart before you start wiring so this is a good chance for you to replace anypipes of fittings that just won't fit in moving on to the wiringnow i'm no certified electrician so please take my instructions with a grainof salt or more like a ton of salt roughly measure the lengths of thecables before passing them through your pipes and fittings according to theposition of your light sockets here's one of our ghetto solutions tonavigating a tea fitting you're welcome next you need to connect your sockets tothe wires start off by removing the

black sleevewe used a pair of scissors but feel free to use wire strippers if you have them do the same with the hot and neutralwires ours with blue and brown but you may get them in other color combinationssuch as black and white it really doesn't matter then connect a brown orhot wire to the hot contact and a blue or neutral wire to the neutral terminal with the wiring done it's time to prepyour light fixture for painting we used electrical tape to cover all thesockets and brass accessories but feel free to use painters tape if you haveany go grab your spray-paint safety

goggles and masks and you're setremember to give you can a good shake before you get to work it is importantthat you spray paint in a well-ventilated area but away fromdirect sunlight also you should avoid windy days altogether to prevent dirtand debris from blowing onto the wet paint wait for the first coat of paintto get sufficiently dry before applying another two to three coats dum-dum-dum dum-dum-dumi wanna see it pain and pain and be back oh sorryonce the paint is dry you'll have to wire the light fixture to a switch stripthe sleeves burn your wires like before

then separate and organize the hot andneutral wires before connecting them to a wire connector or nut before we begin with the next step makesure that you've turned off the power at your circuit breaker box when werenovated our office we got an electrician to run cables from ourbreaker panel to two separate switches which then connects to the desiredlocation of our light fixture if you're pretty new to diy we recommend that youdo the same now wire up your light fixture to thewall and perform a test to make sure that everything works properly

finally it's time to get the lightfixture mounted to the wall since our wall is made out of a couplelayers of plywood we just used a portable drill to mount the flangesstraight to the wall if your wall is not strong enough consider mounting yourlight fixture on to the studs instead but depending on the size of yourfixture you might want another set of hands to help hold it up let there be light so this is the finished bill we haveeight light bulbs wired to two different switches we even added a little tapright here and a vacuum gauge right here
