dining room hutch ideas
hello everyone it's sandy with theartistic vegan home. today i'm going to show you how i mademy mini shelf or table riser with discarded items. to make this little cutie you'll need asmall piece of wood for the top. for my table top i used a piece of lumber froma previous project. i just cut the scrap lumber to a size iwant it. so my wood top measures approximatelyseven by five and a half inches and it is roughly one inch thick but you canmake your top whatever size you'd like. for the legs you will need four smallfinials or four pieces of equal length
wood.i used four decorative tips from two vintage dining room chairs that wereabout to get a makeover. each of the legs are about two inches high.just remember it's basically a tiny table or bench so you can use any fourequal height items to act as legs. before i applied my legs to the top imade sure i removed any excess wood to ensure they were the same height. beforedoing any painting i smooth the edges and corners of the top to give it asmoother look. i lightly painted the underside of the top and then i hotglued on the little finial looking legs in each corner leaving a slight overhang.
to ensure that the table would be leveli flipped it over to let it dry. i basically eyeball the level by makingsure the table riser didn't rock back and forth. to be more precise you can usea leveling tool. at this point you are ready to paint thetop and size of your riser. i used some white sample paint that i got from thehabitat restore for just 50 cents. i knew i wanted a rustic or aged look so iroughly applied the paint. i like the look of the original finished on thelegs so i decided not to paint them. after the paint is dry you can use it asit is or you can get more creative by stenciling distressing staining or eventiling.
i decided to do some light distressingon this mini riser. i used a piece of sandpaper to lightly remove some of thepaint until i achieve the look i wanted. i like the matted light distressed lookbut you can add a clear sealant if you prefer. this mini shelf or a table riser is soversatile and it can be customized any way you like. so pull out your scrap woodand odds and ends and get creative. thanks for watching and please don'tforget to like, comment and subscribe. hit the little bells so you will always knowwhen i upload new videos.
